Johnny Clarence Guyton

Mr. Johnny Clarence Guyton, 81, returned to his Lord and Savior Wednesday April 2o, 2022.

Born in Joanna, S.C. to the late Jessie Baughman and Myrtle Crapps. Johnny joined the United States Army and retired honorably after 30 years of dutiful service as a Sergeant Major. He was able to travel the world during his time with the Army, and was extremely proud of his service. He was a member of St. John United Methodist Church in Graniteville, S.C. for 3 years, and loved his church family dearly. He was an avid golfer, and always enjoyed a little friendly competition often beating players half his age. A true lover of nature, he could make any garden grow abundantly. His grandchildren called him Papa, and said he could fix anything. Johnny was very charismatic and loved by all who met him, he would light up a room with his presence, and always gave of himself. Beyond all he loved his family deeply. He will be remembered for being loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Everett Baughman; and sisters, Elanie Hughes, and Lynda Guyton,

He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Polly Guyton; daughters, Lana (Don) Young, Lori (Chad) Critcher, and Beth (Jeff) Taylor; brother, Ronald Baughman; sister, Joan Sento; grandchildren, CJ (Chelsea) Young, Nicolette (Curt Pittman) Young, Caroline Taylor, and Drayton Taylor; great grandchildren, Olivia Young, and Baby Jack on the way.

A Memorial Service, celebrating his life, will be held Saturday, April 23, 2022 11 A.M. at St. John United Methodist Church in Graniteville, S.C. with Pastor Kendell Healy to officiate. The family will receive friends after the service from 12 P.M. to 1 P.M. at the church.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations in Johnny’s memory be made to St. John United Methodist Church, 18 Gregg St. Graniteville, S.C. 29829.

Napier Funeral Home, Inc. 315 Main St. Graniteville, SC 29829, has been entrusted with these arrangements. To send an expression of sympathy, you may visit the guestbook at www.napierfh.com

Guestbook

How fortunate am I that my Daddy was one of the most beautiful souls I have ever known. He taught me values that formed my life for the better. He taught me compassion, love and trust. There was never a doubt in my mind that he would catch me if I should fall. Throughout the years he caught me both physically and figuratively. I learned to swim at a very early age ...he threw me in front of him and told me to swim. Knowing he would pick me up if I needed, I swam successfully toward him. The swimming led to water skiing , diving and so many other sports including golf, and running. He taught me to be strong, adventurous and to appreciate nature. I wanted to live up to my name Lori JON. He was always there for his family, dropping whatever he might be doing. He was a true Father in every sense of the word. I will miss his physical presence dearly, but he will always be with me.

My daddy was the man who taught me how to live my life. He taught me to work hard, be kind, be grateful, help others and be the best version of myself in everything I do. I feel an emptiness that is hard to express. Treasured memories of all the times we spent together especially in my college years when we were “room mates”❤️ I cannot imagine life without him right now, but I know he is in my heart and now I have another angel watching over me. I love you Daddy❤️

We didn’t get to see Johnny very often, but when we did it was memorable. I always remember his infectious laugh and that little mischievous twinkle in his eyes❤️Hugs to all his family
